Darby 49/52 v3
Darby's ideal Saturday morning involves coffee, donuts, and a good newspaper... really just the icing and sprinkles on a donut.
52 : 4 (part 6)
It is not everyday that your Daddy competes in a big basketball tournament at work, with his finance and legal friends hence the team name Law & Order. We gathered our snacks, painted a sign, and practiced our cheers - Go Law & Order We <3 U Daddy.

Unfortunately, Ewan's leprechaun traps were fruitless, but those guys sure made a mess of the Bat Rays room!
Darby 48/52 v3
Just 1 month until the big 3, seems impossible! Darby moved into a new house and a big girl bed this month and has been a champ, she continues to wow us with her leadership skills and is a delight to know.

Ewan just might be taller than the Doctor at his next visit. His development is beyond on track while his knee reflexes were alluding him. The big assignment before he is 6 is to memorize his address and a phone number. When asked to draw a picture he did the Ghostbusters logo impeccably and signed his full name instantly. Solid 96%tile at 53.4 pounds and 47.75 inches.

She was fully dressed when we said it was time for bath and then we could not find her... she still listens sometimes.

A Bustin' Good Party for Ewan's 5th
This fickle five year old created some serious anxiety around this birthday party! The Ghostbuster theme was an obvious choice but at first he insisted he wanted a home party and since we were preparing to move we were basing a lot around that at home party... then a couple days after the invites were ordered he decided he wanted to have his party at a gym, Mama got to bustin' and made it happen. The gym party ended up being perfect for all of the 5 year old energy... there was a lot of running and rosy cheeks, devoured favor boxes and then a HUGE donation to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.

A 5th Birthday Date for Ewan
Daddy never travels for work, but of course the one trip he gets pulled into requires him to depart on Ewan's birthday, but we did not let that stop us from celebrating 5 BIG! We started the day with presents (Lego Dimensions video games and a keyboard from Mama and Daddy) and cake! From there we went to the Academy of Sciences for some learning and lunch. After Daddy went to the airport, Mama and Ewan went to the park before picking up Darby for some library time and then dinner with one of Ewan's favorite friends, Aubrey! At the end of the day we all had the happy birthday glow and slipped into a good night's sleep... with Ewan in Mama's bed as a special birthday treat.
A letter to my son on this the day of his 5th birthday...
Ewan -
It is hard to believe you are 5 years old, half of a decade already! I bet if I looked back at your birthday letters from previous years this opening is pretty predictable but as a mom it is reality.
Things in your life are feeling very big right now. You are figuring out that you can choose your friends, are looking forward to preschool graduation in 3 months, are asking questions about kindergarten and college (basically same same right?), and are pushing and proving your independence more everyday. This last week we moved to a new house and you are full of questions about how long we will live here (not long, it is a rental) and who will buy our "old house" (stay tuned).
Your latest skill, that we love and hate, is your ability to turn on the TV, select the proper input, and get Netflix going, which allows us a little extra sleep on weekends but can also be exhausting on evenings that we have deemed screen free. Your favorite food is still predictably pizza, you are turning away from milk as a beverage and request water with your dinner now, and you have caught on to our typical parental bribery and will now beat us to the chase in requesting a treat if you complete the desired task/behavior. Other favorites: color = red, toy = legos, show/movie = anything on a screen.
We are loving watching you grow, are proud to know you, and are excited to see you flourish in your sixth year.
Love you SO BIG!

Darby 45/52 v3
Learning to accessorize, compliments her increasing sass. Bonnie the bunny is looking smaller each month and may be a little jealous of DeeDee's jewels.

A few days from his 5th birthday, with a few months from passport expiration, meant a lovely date at the Post Office with a picture that is just so Ewan.
