Darby 44/52

So much learning this month! Darby started doing hand gestures to some of our favorite songs, explored a ton of new foods, climbed on the couch (and everything else), and got 3 new teeth.

We all guessed she would be walking by 10 months but no free-standing steps just yet, it does seem imminent and this teaser is definitely aware that we are waiting. 

Hard to believe this girl only has 2 months left of babyhood!

52 : 51 (part 3)

This morning we woke this guy up at 4:15am. The first thing he said when he came to was, "we go Hawaii now?" For weeks he has been anticipating this trip, and we are finally on our way.

Adding to Darby's new skills this week she started doing twinkling hands when we sing "twinkle twinkle little star" and clapping along to "if you're happy and you know it." She also got her 6th (bottom second right) and 7th (top second left) tooth with out much complaining at all! This baby is becoming a real girl very rapidly, learning something new every day.

52 : 50 (part 3)

Ewan has AMAZING teachers! Every month they immerse the kids in lessons with a theme. They have covered fire trucks, trains, and safari animals. This month they moved on to construction, which was convenient as there is a lot of building occurring on their campus. This theme culminated in a construction parade. All of the kids built their favorite construction vehicle, Ewan did an excavator, and dressed up as construction workers. They were so cute and proud while they marched around making the noise of their truck, "scoop scoop scoop!"

Time seems to be going so quickly, and this girl is learning new things at an amazing rate. Darby started waving, clapping, and playing peek-a-boo this week. She also climbed on the couch all by herself!

52 : 49 (part 3)

2 years and 11 months. Just one month to go until the big 3! His hair is floppy and his heart is big.

52 : 48 (part 3)

Ewan went to the dentist for the first time this week and he rocked it! The dentist and the hygienist were so very impressed by him - he got his teeth polished and flossed, and was even still enough for a "robot picture" (aka X-ray). At the end of the visit he got to pick a prize, he selected glow in the dark plastic fangs. It was a weird pick, but he was happy.

Aside from the dentist Ewan said what may have been the cutest thing ever this week. When I referred to Kevin as my husband he asked what that was, so I explained as best as I could. We talked about husbands, wives, partners, marriage, etc. And at the end he said very simply, and matter of factly, "I marry baby Darby." Kevin's urge was to correct him, mine was to savor him wanting to spend his life with his little sister. 

Darby 41/52

This week Darby's fifth tooth (the bottom, second on the left) came through. She didn't mind one bit! She is spending her time standing and doing squats, teasing us as we await her first steps.
