52 : 51 (part 2)

This week Ewan had his last "water babies" class, next week he graduates to the "water wigglers" class, which requires no mama! He has been taking swimming lessons since he was 6 months old and he is definitely ready for the next class, we are excited to see how he does.

52 : 50 (part 2)

This week Kevin started brewing the beer for Ewan's 2nd birthday party. Ewan wanted to contribute to the preparations and spent some time helping his daddy mill barley... the grain, not the dog.

52 : 49 (part 2)

Just 1 more month of a 1 year old Ewan... 1 year old Ewan that wears 3Ts, communicates more and more clearly everyday, and knows what he wants. At school Ewan is loving outside time --- specifically the slide, the sandbox, and the sidewalk chalk! We get frequent "incident" calls of bruises and bonks that are luckily not too intense, but I do wish I could save the voicemail files to remember updates like this --- "Ewan was driving one of the red cars around the backyard and randomly flung the door open and dove and rolled on to the ground in front of a friend driving another car." Kevin took this as a sign that Ewan is bound to be a race car or stunt driver and his yells of "wow Daddy wow" as K takes corners quickly in our car seem to offer a similar indication.

Baby Big Mac - A Letter at 29 Weeks

February 11, 2014

Hey Baby Girl,

Today I am 29 weeks pregnant with you, which means you are the size of a butternut squash. Well knowing how big your brother was I am guessing you are a very large butternut squash. 29 weeks means we are 1 week in to the 3rd trimester, if born today you would have a decent chance of survival (but let's not test this please), and we only have about 10 to 12 weeks left together like this, I will have to share you soon.

Right now I am on a plane back from my last work trip that requires a plane, and by the end of the week, we have a 2 day offsite in Carmel starting tomorrow, I will be done with work travel until I am back to work in the Fall.

As you will learn I get sentimental on planes --- if alone I am usually longing for my family, if with my family I am typically so appreciative of the memories we have made or are about to make.

That sentimentality is what encouraged me to jot this note down in my iPhone. Heading back to your Dad and Brother makes me weepy with anticipation, I am sure pregnancy doesn't help, and I am overcome with gratitude for the team I am returning to. Your Dad and I are such a good team and that is something I am thankful for everyday. Truth be told he is probably the MVP of our team, taking such good care of us, and I guess I just wanted to share with you how lucky we are little love. In your Dad we have our own hero and in your Brother, who is already so empathetic and compassionate, we will surely have a constant source of love and support.

Can't wait to meet you, but hold tight and keep cooking, the team will wait (almost) as long as you want for our fourth.

Love,
Mama

52 : 48 (part 2)

It took Ewan a long time to get any hair at all and now he seems to be growing it like crazy. His hair is getting thicker requiring cuts much more often. He occupied this chair minutes after a child screaming bloody murder and he was all smiles and patience --- the stylist was very appreciative of our boy.
